STRENGTHENED TO FIGHT OR  STRENGTHENED TO RUN? – Pastor Isaac Olutimehin

TEXT
1 Kings 19:2-8 KJV.
“Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.”
[3] “And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer–sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.”
[4] “But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”
[5] “And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.”
[6] “And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.”
[7] “And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.”
[8] “And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.”

*MESSAGE*
☆☆☆ This is a fairly long bible passage. I have deliberately chosen all those verses so that we can fully understand the whole story.
☆☆☆ Prophet Elijah slaughtered 450 prophets of Baal. Ahab told his wife, Jezebel, what Elijah had done.
☆☆☆ Jezebel became angry and she was after the life of Prophet Elijah and the latter fled.

☆☆☆ God later sent his angel, twice, to feed Elijah so he could gain more strength. Read 1 Kings 19:5-8.
☆☆☆ The question someone might be tempted to ask is, did God feed Elijah to gain strength to run or strength to fight?

☆☆☆ Beloved, if you choose to run away from your challenges, instead of confronting them in prayers, God too may choose to give you more strength to keep running.
☆☆☆ Confront those mountains of problems in your life on the altar of prayers and you will surely testify.

☆☆☆ The challenges you fail to attack on the altar of prayers today may become additional obstacles blocking your breakthrough in future.
☆☆☆ If you notice a particular trait in your life, that the devil has been using as a legal ground to hinder your breakthrough, confront it on the altar of prayers.

☆☆☆ Gehazi was covetous and he knew it but he failed to confront it.
☆☆☆ You would recall that he alone knew that the Shunamite woman had no child and her husband was old.

“And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.” – 2 Kings 4:14 KJV.

☆☆☆ How come Gehazi knew all these details that Elisha, his master, didn’t know?
☆☆☆ Gehazi would have discovered that the woman was very rich and he had moved closer to her to become her friend.
☆☆☆ That same covetous attitude led him to run after Naaman to receive the gifts that Elisha had rejected. Read 1 Kings 5:20-23.
☆☆☆ Little did Gehazi know that he had just received a gift that would make his generation to become the descendant of lepers.

“The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.” – 2 Kings 5:27 KJV.

*PRAYERS*
1. Father, don’t allow me to take your grace that I enjoy for granted.
2. Strengthen me oh Lord against the challenges of life.
3. Help me Lord to confront my challenges on the altar of prayers.
4. Please Lord, help me to discover the legal ground that the devil has been using to hinder my miracle.
5. I receive grace and boldness to deal with those traits.
6. I refuse to surrender myself as a tool for the use of the devil.
7. Oh God my father, don’t allow the fire, burning on my spiritual altar, to go down.
8. Keep my fire burning oh God and make me untouchable for the devil.
9. Devil you have lost the battle over my life.
10. Empower me Lord against the battles of life.

*PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS*
May you not begin to nurture and feed your challenges rather than confronting them on the altar of prayers.
May you receive strength to tackle your challenges rather than running away from them in Jesus name.
I pray for somebody out there, may you not begin to run when you have been strengthened to fight.
May you become a terror to the devil.
I pray that the fire of your spiritual altar will not go down.
You are a warrior, I decree, may you not lose your strength through the acts of carelessness.
Receive Grace and boldness to deal with every legal ground that the devil has been using against you.
May you not submit yourself as a wilful captive to the devil.

You will win this battle in Jesus name.

God bless you 🙏
