Stop the Seaport Dream, Fix Ilaje First – Federal Commissioner, Ajimuda Sends Strong Message to Lucky Aiyedatiwa
The federal commissioner representing Ondo State at the federal Character Commission, Evangelist Bola Ajimuda, has issued a passionate and sharply worded appeal to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, urging him to urgently prioritize the development of Ilaje land and address long-standing infrastructure challenges affecting the riverine communities.
In a statement that has since sparked political conversations, Ajimuda emphasized that despite the availability of modern technology both globally and within Nigeria, meaningful development in Ilaje can only be driven by deliberate government action and local commitment. He called on the governor to shift focus from what he described as “highfalutin” projects such as a proposed seaport and refinery, and instead concentrate on completing the critical Igbokoda–Aiyetoro road.
Drawing comparisons with the developmental strides recorded under late former governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Ajimuda stressed that infrastructure like the abandoned road project remains essential to tackling the persistent sea incursion challenges plaguing the area.
He further urged the immediate recall of SETRACO to resume work, alongside the release of statutory funds to OSOPADEC, insisting that time is running out for the current administration to make a lasting impact in Ilaje.
Full statement reads
Advanced Technology is available across the world and in Nigeria. No one will develop Ilaje except Ilaje, I like to again plead with the Governor of Ondo State, H.E. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa Ondo State Government to give the development of Ilaje, a deserving attention and Priority.
AKETI developed Owo, use this opportunity to quickly complete the Igbokoda – Aiyetoro Road.
Time is definitely not on your side. Keep on hold the Highfalutin Seaport and Phantom Refinery Delusion! Don’t discuss further on the Phantom Massive Land Reclamation Project! Recall SETRACO to site and let them come and Complete the Job.
With what the company had achieved between Igbokoda and Ugbonla, they have demonstrated Competence and Technical Capability to do this Job. All you need to do is to direct OSOPADEC and release the statutory 40% of the 13% derivation fund to the Commission for immediate actions on the Ugbonla -Aiyetoro axis. Ironically, this road remains a Condition Precedent to dealing with the lingering Sea Incursion Menace in the Creek .
Today, there’s nothing to show in Ugbo Kingdom for your leadership thus far! Two years gone! Make Hay When Sun Shines! Work, Lucky Work! Stop Dancing Around! Work for your Own People Now! Hmmmmm!
