2027: Labour Party Has Its Own Presidential Candidate, We Will Support Them – Gov. Alex Otti
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the party will field its own presidential and vice-presidential candidates and that he remains fully committed to supporting them.
Speaking to Abians, the governor dismissed suggestions that the Labour Party would abandon its platform or endorse another political party’s presidential candidate.
According to Otti, “My party is Labour Party. Labour Party has its own presidential and vice-presidential candidates. We will support them.”
The Abia governor also addressed recent political comments by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, who reportedly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.
Otti maintained that Governor Uzodinma was entitled to his personal political opinion but stressed that such a position should not be interpreted as representing the collective views of the South-East governors or the people of the region.
“As a governor and as an individual, you can’t speak for everybody,” Otti stated.
His remarks underscore the growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties begin to define their positions and strategies.
Governor Otti’s comments are expected to strengthen confidence among Labour Party supporters, reaffirming that the party remains focused on presenting its own candidates rather than backing another political platform.
With political activities gradually gaining momentum nationwide, analysts believe statements from key figures such as Otti and Uzodinma will continue to shape conversations around alliances, regional interests, and the race for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027.
