“2027 Bombshell: Northern Power Brokers May Be Turning Against Tinubu”

When Buhari died in 2025, I already knew that his death would not just create grief but vacuum and a lot of uncertainty in the North. I knew a dangerous power vacuum will be the result of his sudden demise, and you know, in politics, nature hates a vacuum. It must be filled.

I expected President Tinubu, as a master strategist, to immediately move in, work closely with the Northern power brokers, and carefully balance power in the North to his advantage ahead of 2027. But that was not what happened.

Instead, he concentrated more on uniting Southern Governors and consolidating power where it felt it mattered the most. Maybe he worked with the simple formula: “the devil I already know is better to deal with.”

But right from time, politics of the North has always required a messenger consistently interceding for you.

In 2022, when President Tinubu was certain he was running, some Northern political elites, led by former APC Chairman Adamu Abdullahi, wanted to rally behind Ahmed Lawan as a consensus candidate and return power to the North. The plan was almost clear and happening.

Until some Northern cabals, like El-Rufai, decided to stand on the principles of fairness. They insisted Tinubu should be given a fair chance. That singular stance changed everything. That was how he ran and won.

Now imagine if Buhari was still alive today.

I do not know if he would have actively supported Tinubu. But one thing is certain, his presence alone would have balanced power in the North in Tinubu’s favour. Buhari was not just a man, he was a force, a unifying symbol, a political stabiliser.

But now, he is gone.

And most of the bridges of alignment that once held the North together have been quietly tampered with. That is why, if you look closely, you can read the body language of the North without anyone saying a word.

I have always said it: the vacuum Buhari left would become a “big political question” in the North.

But what I did not envisage is this current emerging reality.

A situation where people like Kwankwaso, El-Rufai, Atiku, David Mark and others could find themselves under one political umbrella. A convergence of interests and silent alignment.

All to rally the North to be battle ready against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Now the real question is this:

Who will President Tinubu send to hold the gates of Northern politics for him ahead of 2027?

Who becomes the forerunner with so much political clout like the Nyerisi of South South?

Who does for him what John the Baptist did for Jesus?

I believe that this question has not been answered, that is why 2027 remains a mystery rather than just an election.
