$10m Rivers Fumigation Scandal: APC PCC Coordinator Demands EFCC, ICPC Probe of Amaechi
The APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) South East Zonal Coordinator and National Vice Chairman (South East), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, MBBS, PhD has strongly called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to immediately investigate former Rivers State Governor and current African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, over the alleged $10 million fumigation scandal.

Dr. Arodiogbu described the expenditure of $10 million of Rivers State funds on a fumigation project that reportedly fumigated “not even a single room” as a brazen act of financial recklessness and criminal diversion of public resources that must not be swept under the carpet.
“The people of Rivers State and indeed all Nigerians deserve answers. How does a government spend $10 million of taxpayers’ money on fumigation and end up with nothing to show for it? This is not governance; it is an insult to the intelligence of the Nigerian people,” Arodiogbu declared.
He noted that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has repeatedly stated that Amaechi paid a Cuban company $10 million to fumigate Rivers State against malaria without any visible or measurable result, raises serious questions of accountability, transparency and possible corruption.
_“This is a classic case of mindless waste of public funds. At a time when Rivers people were battling malaria and other health challenges, $10 million was allegedly thrown away on a phantom fumigation exercise. The anti-graft agencies must not look away,” the APC South East leader stated._
Dr. Arodiogbu insisted that the EFCC, ICPC and CCB have a constitutional and moral duty to launch a full-scale investigation into the $10 million fumigation deal, recover any diverted funds, and prosecute anyone found culpable, regardless of political status or ambition.
_“No one is above the law. Rotimi Amaechi cannot aspire to the second highest office in the land while serious questions about the management of Rivers State resources during his tenure remain unanswered. The South East APC demands a thorough, independent and transparent probe without delay,” he said._
The APC chieftain further challenged Amaechi to voluntarily submit himself to the anti-corruption agencies and clear his name if he has nothing to hide.
_“Nigerians are watching. The era of impunity is over. Those who managed public funds must account for every kobo. The $10 million Rivers fumigation scandal must be fully investigated,” Arodiogbu concluded._
