A 35-year-old woman, Bamitale Modupeola Victoria, has been arraigned before an Ogba Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding 39 unsuspecting buyers of over N123 million under the guise of supplying iPhones, iPads and other electronic gadgets.

The police reports said the alleged fraud occurred between October and December 2025 at No. 8, Abiodun Oshowole Close, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos. The suspect was said to have convinced the victims that she had genuine apple products for sale at competitive prices.

Investigations revealed that the victims were directed to pay into a Moniepoint account number 6024844469 and an Opay account number 12849934, allegedly linked to the defendant. After receiving the payments, she reportedly cut off all communication and went into hiding.

The matter was later reported to the Lagos state Police Command’s SmartCloud Unit at the state headquarters, Ikeja. Operatives swung into action, tracked and arrested the suspect, who was subsequently detained and interrogated.

Following investigations, police charged her before the court on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and stealing, contrary to Sections 411, 314(3), and 287 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos state, 2015.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant conspired with another person still at large to obtain the total sum of ₦123,094,000 from the victims, falsely claiming she would supply electronic gadgets which she allegedly did not have. The charge further stated that she unlawfully converted the entire sum to personal use.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
