Woman Arrested in Ghana Over Alleged Sale of Child for GH¢2,000

Nigerian woman living in Ghana has reportedly been arrested for allegedly selling her child for GH¢2,000 (N232,000).

Residents claim they apprehended the woman and questioned her over the child’s whereabouts after suspecting she had sold the child.

The viral video footage widely shared on social media platforms shows a group of local men cornering the woman. They forced her onto a plastic chair and aggressively questioned her regarding the sudden disappearance and whereabouts of her child.

Community members at the scene alleged that the woman has been battling severe substance abuse. However, local authorities have not yet independently verified her medical or mental state.

Local law enforcement and child protection authorities are expected to fully investigate the matter to locate the missing child, confirm the details of the alleged transaction, and formally file charges.
