Wike Has Misled Tinubu And They Will Pay For It — Prof Otubanjo
Research Professor at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Professor Femi Otubanjo, has expressed doubts about the ability of some governors to secure electoral support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. He specifically accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of giving Tinubu an overly optimistic assessment of his political influence in Rivers State, warning that both men could face electoral consequences.

Otubanjo made the remarks during an interview with Arise News while responding to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s argument that controlling 30 states would not automatically translate into victory for Tinubu in 2027.
According to the professor, the influence of governors during elections should not be exaggerated because their political control varies from one state to another. He pointed to governors in the Southeast, Rivers State and Oyo State as examples of political leaders who may not necessarily deliver their states to Tinubu or his allies.
