“I Saw the Price and Said No, This Money Can Build 10 Churches”

Bishop David Oyedepo has shared a striking personal story about priorities, generosity, and where a person’s heart truly lies.

Speaking on the importance of the heart, the founder of Living Faith Church recalled a prayer he made to God long before financial abundance came.

“If You ever bless me, Jesus, I want to be part of building new churches,” he said.

According to Bishop Oyedepo, he made that commitment at a time when he had no bank account, stressing that giving and kingdom commitment begin with the heart, not with how much money a person already has.

He then recalled an experience many years ago in Canada when a friend asked if he liked an item he had seen. After checking the amount displayed, Oyedepo said he immediately lost interest.

“I saw the amount on the show glass. I said, ‘No, I don’t like it.’ I said, ‘This will build 10 churches.’”

For him, the issue was not whether he could admire the item, but what that same amount of money could accomplish elsewhere.

He further revealed that one of the first buildings he ever built in his life was a chapel, tying the story back to a conviction he said had been in his heart for years.

“That’s not where my heart is. If You ever bless me, Jesus, I want to be part of building new churches.”
