Full statement reads:

Press Briefing
Delivered by Comrade Aryan Abdul Kareem
On behalf of comrade olumu lucky, Comrade olukayode williams, comrade John osumbor mark and Engineer Bashir Muhammad

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, distinguished observers, and fellow citizens, thank you for joining us at this important briefing.

We stand before you today to make a sincere and open confession regarding our past involvement in a coordinated effort that targeted former Governor Bello Matawalle with false narratives and deliberate misinformation. We wish to state clearly and without any form of ambiguity that we were sponsored and guided in these activities by individuals working directly under the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal Dare.

The sponsorship came through the Governor’s Spokeperson Sulaiman Bala Idris who convened and supervised several meetings where we were briefed, instructed, and resourced. The total financial provision for this operation was above five hundred million naira, deliberately allocated to recruit voices from across Nigeria. This included political commentators, social media influencers, conventional media platforms, and notable public figures in Zamfara State such as Kabiru Marafa and Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi.

We were part of that machinery. We accepted the roles that were assigned to us. We participated in the circulation of damaging content even when we knew that it did not reflect the truth. At that time, we chose political pressure and financial inducement over our own conscience.

Today, we acknowledge the gravity of what we did. We now understand the emotional harm, reputational damage, and deep distress our actions brought upon Bello Matawalle, his family, and his supporters. After long reflection, we have realised that we acted against fairness, justice, and the principles of responsible public discourse.

On behalf of my colleagues, I stand here to tender our unreserved apology. We ask for the forgiveness of Bello Matawalle. We ask for the forgiveness of every citizen who may have been misled by the materials we produced or circulated. This apology comes from a place of genuine remorse and moral awakening.

We also want to state publicly that we are ready to face any consequences that may arise from these revelations. We possess clear evidence of every step taken in this operation, including records of our meetings with the Governor’s Spokeperson Sulaiman Bala Idris, We are prepared to cooperate with any investigation or inquiry that competent authorities may wish to pursue.

Our collective decision to come forward is driven by a desire to correct the wrongs we participated in and to encourage others who were also involved to find the courage to speak the truth. Nigeria cannot advance if political actors continue to use deception, blackmail, and sponsored attacks as tools for power.

We thank you, members of the press and the general public, for listening. This is not an easy step for us, but it is a necessary one. We hope it marks the beginning of a more honest and responsible political environment in our state and our country.

Signed,
Comrade Aryan Abdul Kareem
