We Failed Nigerians In Buhari Administration – Solomon Dalung 

Former Minister of Youth and Sports in the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari, November 2015 to May 2019, Solomon Dalung, has declared that they failed Nigerians in the Buhari administration.

Dalung, reflecting on his role in government, said he cannot pretend to be satisfied with the performance of government,, noting that he owes Nigerians honesty.

Solomon Dalung, in a epistle, recalled that when they were seeking the mandate of Nigerians, they promised to rescue the country from insecurity, corruption, and economic hardship.

The former Minister declared: “We campaigned vigorously, criticizing the failures of the previous administration and assuring Nigerians that we had the solutions.

“Today, I must admit that many of those promises did not materialize. The expectations we created were not matched by the reality that followed. In that sense, we failed Nigerians.”

Dalung revealed that as a member of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, he discovered that the government many Nigerians believed they had elected gradually became something different from what they had envisioned.

According to Dalung, “President Buhari’s personal reputation for integrity was a major factor in our electoral victory. Many Nigerians trusted him because they believed he possessed the character and discipline to transform the country.

“Unfortunately, shortly after we assumed office, powerful interests emerged around the presidency and increasingly influenced the direction of government.

“In my assessment, the government was effectively taken over by individuals whose priorities were not necessarily aligned with the promises we made to Nigerians.
