VeryDarkMan Leads Oyo Protest Demanding Eviction Of Terrorists, 32 Days After Schoolchildren Abduction
Today marks 32 days since the abduction of the schoolchildren and teachers, who were taken on May 15, 2026.

Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has led residents of Oyo State in a protest demanding the eviction of bandits from the state.
VeryDarkMan, alongside numerous protesters on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, called for urgent intervention by the Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government, following the recent kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of the state.
Today marks 32 days since the abduction of the schoolchildren and teachers, who were taken on May 15, 2026.
The protesters, who marched in large numbers, were heard chanting “Bandits must go” and “Leave our land” as they made their way through the area.
Addressing fellow protesters at the Iwo Road Roundabout, VeryDarkMan spoke in pidgin English, saying, “Anybody sent to disrupt this protest, I swear to God, we will beat you well. I will advise to just go home because we will beat you well. That is number one.
“Number two, if we don’t gather here today, what happened to those children and that teacher will happen another person. I will tell you for free, very soon, they will take Nigeria from us if we don’t stand up.”
“Anybody wey dem send to come and scatter this protest, I swear to God we go b£at you dai. The reason why we’re here today is because if we’re not, what happened to those children will happen to another person. These b@nd!ts want to take over our country and we won’t allow them”… pic.twitter.com/jc2nQskLB9

From there, the protesters marched to the Government House in Agodi, Ibadan, where they continued chanting and demanding the rescue of the abducted victims. The development comes amid growing concerns over insecurity across Nigeria and increasing calls on the government to secure the release of persons recently abducted by kidnappers in Oyo State. Earlier in June, SaharaReporters reported that the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, revealed that terrorists holding abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State were demanding weapons, money, and concessions on future Nigerian laws as conditions for their release. Ogundoyin made the disclosure while addressing the growing debate over whether governments should negotiate with kidnappers and terrorists to secure the freedom of victims. Questioning the wisdom of yielding to the demands of the abductors, Ogundoyin suggested that the terrorists’ conditions went beyond the payment of ransom. “To bring these children and teachers back, if it is up to you, will you negotiate with terrorists if terrorists ask for weapons, they ask for money, they ask for concessions on future laws of this land as part of their ransom?” he asked.

Earlier, the Take It Back (TIB) Movement condemned the Nigerian government and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over the failure to rescue the schoolchildren and teachers abducted from Yawota and Ahoro-Esinle communities in Oriire, more than 27 days after their abduction.

According to the group, the prolonged delay in securing the release of the victims reflects a collapse of the government’s primary responsibility to safeguard lives and property.
“The continued captivity of these innocent children and their teachers is unacceptable. Every additional day they spend in the hands of their abductors is a damning indictment of the failure of the Nigerian state to guarantee security,” the group said.
TIB also referenced comments attributed to Governor Makinde, who reportedly disclosed that the whereabouts of the abducted victims were known and that they were being held within the Old Oyo National Park axis.
