US Based, Kayode Ijalana Awards ₦1 Million Scholarship, Laptop To Overall Utme Champion In Nigeria
In a bid to promote academic excellence and inspire the next generation, Engr. Kayode Ijalana, a US-based Cloud Engineer and proud son of Owo, has awarded a ₦1 million scholarship to Master Oluwasegun Precious Olamide, a student of AUD Comprehensive High School, Otapete, Owo.
Oluwasegun distinguished himself as the highest-scoring public school student in Nigeria in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), earning a remarkable 346 out of 400 and bringing pride and recognition to the Owo community on a national scale.
Represented at the award presentation by Comrade Damilare Aina, Engr. Ijalana commended the school’s principal, teachers, and Oluwasegun’s parents for their roles in nurturing such outstanding talent. He described the student’s achievement as a milestone not just for the school, but for the entire Owo community.
As part of the recognition, Engr. Ijalana pledged:
A ₦1 million scholarship, disbursed as ₦200,000 annually
A brand-new laptop, to be presented upon Oluwasegun’s admission into the university
Ongoing mentorship and additional support to help the student reach greater heights
Before this historic UTME feat, Master Oluwasegun had already distinguished himself through multiple academic achievements:
– Winner of the inaugural Falaye Science & Mathematics Olympiad (FSMO) in 2024
– First-place winner in the Ondo State Digital Quiz Competition organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Akure
– Champion of the Science Competition hosted by the Association of Resident Doctors at FMC, Owo
– Recipient of the Alhaji Ajadi Foundation Scholarship for best student in Chemistry
– Winner of the 60th Anniversary Quiz Competition organized by Methodist High School, Owo
During the presentation, Mr. Lawal Haruna Abiodun, Principal of AUD Comprehensive High School, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Engr. Ijalana. He praised the gesture as not only morale-boosting for Oluwasegun but also a powerful motivation for other students to strive for excellence.
Oluwasegun’s parents also expressed deep gratitude to Engr. Ijalana, promising on their son’s behalf that he would not disappoint the faith placed in him.
With scores of 79 in Chemistry, 98 in Physics, 71 in English, and 98 in Mathematics, Oluwasegun’s performance stands as a shining example of what public school students can achieve with hard work, support, and opportunity.
