UK-Based Peter Obi Supporter, Oluomo of Derby, in COS Scam Scandal, Diversion of NIUK Funds

Mr. Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as Oluomo of Derby and a well-known UK-based supporter of Mr. Peter Obi, is currently facing serious allegations involving financial impropriety and fraudulent Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) schemes within the Nigerians in the UK Community (NIUK).

Kuti, the founder and former president of NIUK a social media-driven platform with over 25,000 Nigerian members across the United Kingdom is alleged to have diverted community funds into personal accounts and operated COS-related schemes that reportedly left several individuals financially and emotionally devastated.

The accusations of non-transparent financial practices sparked widespread criticism within the group, prompting Kuti to resign from his leadership position. In the wake of the scandal, several other senior members of the community also stepped down.

However, the controversy has deepened as the new leadership of NIUK claims that Mr. Kuti continues to operate the group’s financial accounts despite his resignation, raising concerns about a lack of proper transition and accountability.

Multiple members have also accused him of transforming what was meant to be a support-based platform into a profit-driven operation for personal gain. Victims allege that they were promised assistance with COS processing in exchange for payment, only to be defrauded and left in distressing circumstances.

The ongoing situation has cast a shadow over the integrity of the NIUK community and has led to growing calls for transparency, restitution, and legal redress.
