In a statement posted on his Truth Social account, Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping had assured him during their recent meeting in Beijing that China would not supply or sell weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
United States President, Donald Trump, has warned China and Russia against providing military support to Iran, saying any such move would be “very bad for them” and “certainly not in their best interests.”
In a statement posted on his Truth Social account, Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping had assured him during their recent meeting in Beijing that China would not supply or sell weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“President Xi, at our recent meeting in Beijing, China, told me that he would not, under any circumstances, give or sell Weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran — And that statement included Chinese Companies,” Trump wrote.
“Considering our relationship, I take him at his word and, besides, I am doing him very big favors, also.”
Trump also said Russian President Vladimir Putin had given him a similar assurance despite the ongoing war in Ukraine.
“Likewise, President Putin, despite the horrible War going on in Ukraine (The relationship remains, as it does with President Zelenskyy), told me that he would not sell Weapons to Iran.”
The U.S. president reiterated that the United States does not directly sell weapons to Ukraine but instead supplies them to NATO member countries.
“He understands that I do not sell Weapons to Ukraine, but to NATO Countries. They pay full price, and how those Weapons are distributed, I have no idea,” Trump said.
Trump added that, based on the assurances he received from both leaders, he did not believe China or Russia were supporting Iran with weapons.
“Therefore, two major Countries that people speak of often in terms of Iran are, in my opinion, not participating.”
He, however, cautioned that any decision by either country to arm Iran would carry consequences.
“If they did, it would be very bad for them. Certainly not in their best interests.”
Trump concluded the statement by saying, “Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that the United States escalated its warning to Iran, with President Donald J. Trump’s administration declaring that Tehran would face “a head for an eye” if it continues attacks linked to the ongoing conflict, signalling a tougher stance than the traditional principle of “an eye for an eye.”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made the remarks on Thursday while speaking to reporters after the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting of foreign ministers in the Philippines.
Rubio said the administration’s policy reflected President Trump’s determination to impose severe consequences on Iran over any further aggression.
“I saw [Abbas] Araghchi, their foreign minister, who the other day said something about their policies, ‘an eye for an eye.’ The president’s policy is a head for an eye,” Rubio said.
He added, “I mean, honestly, that’s what it’s going to be. I mean, they will pay a very heavy price.”
Rubio further claimed that Iran had already suffered extensive military losses as a result of recent US operations.

The comments mark one of the strongest warnings yet from the Trump administration amid heightened tensions in the Gulf and come after repeated threats by Washington to respond forcefully to any attacks attributed to Iran or its proxies.
On Wednesday, President Trump also issued a fresh warning on his Truth Social platform, threatening to target key Iranian infrastructure if commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz come under further attack.
“From this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether it be by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT, including those located next to, or in, the Capital City of Tehran,” Trump wrote.
The latest remarks underscore the increasingly confrontational posture adopted by the United States toward Iran, with Washington signalling that any future attacks on international shipping or US interests could trigger direct strikes on critical infrastructure inside the Islamic Republic.
