President Donald Trump has said that the United States could bring down global oil prices by disengaging from Iran, suggesting his administration would soon withdraw from the country.

“All we have to do is to leave Iran and we would be doing that very soon and they will become tumbling down.”
He also linked his position to broader security concerns, referencing tensions over Iran’s nuclear ambitions and justifying past military actions.
“Stock prices were up almost a record, I said to the American people it’s time we make a detour because we have a mad man who wants nuclear weapon. If we did not knock him out with a B2-bomber, we would have had a nuclear weapon that would have been used before this, before today.”
Trump suggested that failure to act decisively could have led to catastrophic consequences, insisting that his approach prevented a potential nuclear threat.
“You would not be standing there asking that question. I would say that within two or three weeks we will leave.”
His remarks come amid heightened geopolitical tensions involving Iran and ongoing debates over US foreign policy in the Middle-East, particularly around military involvement and its effect on global energy markets.
On Monday, Trump openly threatened to seize Iran’s oil resources, declaring that taking control of the country’s crude exports is his preferred course of action.
Speaking in an interview with the Financial Times, Trump said Sunday that he would like to “take the oil in Iran” and is considering targeting the strategic export hub of Kharg Island, which is responsible for more than 90% of Iran’s oil exports.
In some of his most direct remarks on the issue, Trump said his “preference would be to take the oil.”
“To be honest with you, my favorite thing is to take the oil in Iran but some stupid people back in the U.S. say: ‘Why are you doing that?’ But they’re stupid people,” he said.
The comments underscore a hardline stance toward Iran’s energy infrastructure and signal a potential escalation in rhetoric over control of one of the country’s most critical economic assets.
Earlier on Monday, SaharaReporters reported that Trump announced that Washington is in talks with Iran’s new leadership aimed at ending ongoing military operations.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social account on Monday, Trump described the discussions as “progressing” and expressed optimism, noting that the U.S. is engaging with a leadership that appears “more reasonable” and hopes to bring the military operations to a close soon.

Trump also highlighted that certain conditions remain crucial, including the reopening of the Hormuz Strait, a key waterway for international trade. He warned that failure to reach an agreement could trigger a devastating military action.
He added, “But, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched.’”
Trump framed these potential actions as a response to previous violence against Americans and others during Iran’s former government.
“This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47 year ‘Reign of Terror,’” he said.
