Truck Driving Against Traffic Crashes Into Police Escort In Abeokuta, Officer Burnt To Death, Others Injured

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident happened when a cement-mixing truck, said to have been driving on a one-way route along the expressway, rammed into the police escort van attached to a bank bullion convoy.

Atragic accident occurred in Abeokuta, Ogun State, after a truck reportedly driving against traffic collided with a police escort attached to a bullion van, leaving one mobile police officer burnt beyond recognition and two others injured.

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident happened when a cement-mixing truck, said to have been driving on a one-way route along the expressway, rammed into the police escort van attached to a bank bullion convoy.

A police source told SaharaReporters that the bullion van narrowly escaped the full impact of the crash, as the escort vehicle bore the brunt of the collision.

In multiple videos obtained by SaharaReporters, the scene appeared devastating, with one officer seen completely burnt to ashes in his uniform.

The escort van was also engulfed in flames, along with the officer’s rifle and other equipment reportedly destroyed in the inferno.

Meanwhile, two other Mobile Police officers who sustained varying degrees of injuries were seen being rescued from the wreckage.

They were later moved into a waiting vehicle for urgent transfer to a general hospital for medical attention.

However, authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
