Troops Rescue Five Kidnap Victims in Kogi After Midnight Pursuit

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued five kidnapped victims following a swift and coordinated response to an abduction incident along the Okpella–Okene Road in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The operation was carried out at about 12:43 a.m. on May 3 by troops of the 195 Battalion (Reinforced) stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Okpella.

According to security sources, the troops, while on routine night patrol, received a distress call reporting that a vehicle had been attacked and its occupants abducted by suspected kidnappers.

Acting promptly, the soldiers launched a pursuit of the fleeing criminals, applying pressure that forced the abductors to abandon their victims and escape into the surrounding bush.

Five victims were successfully rescued during the operation. Two of the victims sustained injuries and were immediately evacuated to the ENAW Dialysis Centre for medical treatment, while the others received initial care and were stabilised.

Security sources added that follow-up operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and curb further criminal activities along the Okpella–Okene axis.
