Troops Rescue 23 Kidnap Victim’s, Foil Fresh Abduction Attempt

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have reportedly rescued 23 kidnapped civilians and foiled an attempted abduction during separate operations in Zamfara State.

According to a report by TheCable, the rescue took place in Anka Local Government Area, where troops on combat patrol around the outskirts of Wuya town encountered terrorists and secured the release of the victims.

The rescued persons comprised three adult males and 20 females. Preliminary debriefing reportedly indicated that they were abducted from Gummi LGA and had spent about three weeks in captivity.

The victims are receiving medical attention and other necessary support before being reunited with their families.

In a separate operation in Bungudu LGA, troops reportedly acted on intelligence that armed bandits had infiltrated Dankurmi town with plans to abduct residents.

The troops swiftly mobilised and engaged the attackers in a heavy exchange of fire. Their superior firepower reportedly forced the bandits to retreat without abducting any civilian.

Security sources said traces of blood were later discovered along the attackers’ withdrawal route, suggesting that some of the fleeing bandits may have sustained gunshot wounds.

Troops have reportedly maintained a strong presence in the affected areas while continuing efforts to track the fleeing criminals and prevent further attacks.

The operations highlight the importance of timely intelligence, rapid military response and sustained security presence in protecting vulnerable communities across Zamfara State.
