Troops N€utralize Gunmen in ∆mbush Operation in Plateau

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have successfully neutralized armed gunmen during a coordinated ambush in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation, carried out on the evening of April 21, 2026, followed credible intelligence on the movement of suspected criminals accused of terrorizing communities through attacks, robbery, and other violent crimes.

Security forces engaged the gunmen in a firefight, during which two of the attackers were killed, while others fled into nearby bushes under the cover of darkness.

A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of weapons and items including a locally made rifle, ammunition, and other materials believed to have been used by the suspects.

Troops have since maintained their presence in surrounding communities, including Marit and Lajam, as efforts continue to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
