Troops of the Joint Task Force Kano have foiled a bandits attack and prevented cattle rustling along Yankamaye and Rimaye axis on the Kano-Katsina boundary.

Acting on credible intelligence at about 5:45pm on July 15, troops from Forward Operating Bases reinforced by Response Area troops laid ambush at bandits crossing points and intercepted the fleeing rustlers.

During exchange of gunfire, the troops overwhelmed the bandits, forcing them to abandon the rustled livestock and flee towards Katsina.

Two terrorists were captured, one motorcycle, 97 cattle and 50 sheep recovered. The cattle have been returned to their owners, Army said.

Sadly, one vigilante, Mallam Yusuf Adamu, 47, from Yanchibi Village, died after being caught in crossfire. The Army commiserated with his family and community.

Troops are still combing the area in pursuit of fleeing bandits.

Commander 3 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Saka Jimoh, commended the troops for alertness and professionalism and urged sustained tempo until all bandits are neutralised, while thanking residents for timely intelligence.
