Troops Ambush Bandits in Edu LG, Kwara State, Recover Weapons
Troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi, under the 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, have recorded another major success in the ongoing fight against banditry in Kwara State.
According to Captain Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the soldiers laid an ambush for armed bandits along the Lema–Daban Lema road in Edu Local Government Area in the early hours of Wednesday.
The troops overpowered the criminals in a gun duel, neutralising one bandit while others fled with gunshot injuries. Recovered items include an AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a motorcycle.
This latest breakthrough comes days after security operatives arrested five suspected bandits in Ilofa, Ekiti Local Government Area.
Security operations across identified flashpoints in the state remain ongoing, with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq reaffirming his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser and other agencies to safeguard lives, strengthen peace, and protect communities in Kwara State.
