Tinubu Smokes Silk Cigarettes A Lot, He Can’t Do Without Them – Ex-SGF

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has made a series of claims about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s personal lifestyle, health and habits during an interview on Symfoni TV.
Lawal alleged that Tinubu was particularly fond of Silk cigarettes, claiming the President smoked them frequently. He also said he was unsure whether Tinubu still smoked them.
The former SGF further claimed that the President has health challenges and urged him to prioritise his wellbeing after completing his current four-year term in office. He expressed the view that advancing age and declining health could affect a leader’s performance.
Speaking about Tinubu’s personal lifestyle, Lawal said the President was never known for extravagant living before assuming office. According to him, Tinubu preferred simple meals, often eating bananas, groundnuts or pap with moi moi for breakfast.
Lawal also said he found it difficult to understand allegations that Tinubu accumulated enormous personal wealth, arguing that, in his experience, the President did not appear to live a luxurious lifestyle.
He added that Tinubu was often casually dressed at home and sometimes posed for photographs in simple clothing, prompting him to advise aides to ensure the President was properly dressed before taking pictures.
The comments are Lawal’s personal claims and opinions made during the interview. There has been no immediate response from the Presidency regarding the remarks.
