Three Kogi Youths Abducted After Mother’s Burial

Three young men from Isanlu Bidemi (33), Olumide (30), and their 17-year-old cousin Moses were kidnapped on Sunday, 7 December 2025, while returning from Agboro, Kwara State, where they had attended their mother’s burial.

The incident occurred along the Odo-Ogbe axis of Yagba East, after the victims reportedly ran into armed men. A fourth traveler, a Hausa man, was also abducted.

The family, still grieving the loss of their mother, is now facing a second tragedy.

The kidnappers are demanding ₦10 million per victim, totalling ₦30 million, excluding the fourth abductee.

A desperate offer of ₦3 million was rejected, with the victims allegedly subjected to increased beatings and threats.

The abductees’ families say only one basic phone a torchlight handset was available during the trip, and it is now being used by the kidnappers to issue repeated ransom calls.

Residents of Yagba East and West have expressed shock and outrage, describing the incident as “a heartbreaking double tragedy.”

Community members are calling on the Kogi State Government, security agencies, vigilantes, and local hunters to take urgent action to rescue the victims.

Local leaders warn that the region cannot afford another kidnapping crisis and urge authorities to prevent the situation from escalating further.
