The drama that led to Wike’s ally, George Kelly’s alleged disqualification by APC Screening Committee

According to reports, George Kelly who serves as the Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) and a strong political ally of Nyesom Wike, was reportedly disqualified by the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship aspirants screening committee.

According to some unverified report, George Kelly who served as commissioner for works under Nyesom Wike’s governorship administration in Rivers state, was disqualified by the screening committee over his failure to comply with president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to all political appointees seeking political office in 2027.

Recall that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu had mandated all political appointees in his administration interested in vying for political office in 2027 to resign from their positions before March 30th. George Kelly reportedly failed to comply with the president’s directive, purchased the APC governorship nomination form for Rivers state and presented himself for screening today before the screening committee chaired by Benjamin Obi Nwoyeand Barr. Emeka Okafor as its Secretary.

While George Kelly’s disqualification has not been officially confirmed, Reliant.ng had reported that Nyesom Wike was being accused of double standards by the APC hierarchy over George Kelly’s defiance to president Tinubu’s directive.

While George Kelly was reportedly disqualified, governor Sim Fubara was told to “bow and go” before the screening committee for serving governors–the committee was chaired by the national chairman of the APC, professor Nentawe Yilwatda with Senator Surajudeen Basiru as its Secretary.
