Tax Officer Allegedly Confesses to Killing Friend Over 3m Naira Fake FIRS Job Deal
A shocking confession allegedly made by a tax officer with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has continued to stir reactions online, one year after the tragic incident reportedly occurred.
The suspect, identified as Sadiq Zubairu, was alleged to have admitted to killing his longtime friend, Bello, over a fraudulent job arrangement involving ₦3 million.
According to the widely circulated statement, the suspect claimed that the deceased had paid him the money to secure employment at the Federal Inland Revenue Service after the two previously worked together at the Kaduna Electric between 2017 and 2024.
The suspect allegedly said Bello became interested in joining FIRS after learning that he had secured employment there through unofficial means. Bello was said to have transferred ₦3 million to him in hopes of getting a similar opportunity.
Narrating the incident, the suspect reportedly claimed that he invited Bello to meet him at Muhibba Filling Station under the pretense of handing over a job offer letter. Unknown to the victim, some accomplices had allegedly been positioned nearby.
According to the statement, an altercation broke out during an attempt to restrain Bello, leading to severe violence. The suspect further alleged that Bello was overpowered and later moved in the boot of his own vehicle before the car was abandoned near Bristol Palace Hotel.
The disturbing account has reignited conversations around job racketeering, unemployment pressures, and the dangers of fraudulent recruitment schemes in Nigeria.
