Suspect Reveals How Gang Spied on Wealthy Residents Before Striking in Abuja Kidnapping

A suspect arrested in connection with the kidnapping of the Adedayo children in Kuje, Abuja, has reportedly revealed how members of the gang identified and monitored their targets before carrying out attacks.

According to a video circulating on Sunday, October 26, 2026, the suspect said the gang usually searched for areas with little or no police presence before selecting houses or individuals they believed were wealthy.

He explained that members of the gang would drive around suspected locations, observe security conditions and return at night to carry out kidnappings once they considered the area suitable.

“We drive around for some time spying. Once we confirm that the place is secured for us, then we strike. We usually go for houses or people that we suspect are well to do. After which we return at night to kidnap them,” the suspect reportedly said.

The report did not clearly identify the particular suspect who made the statement.

The gang is allegedly linked to the abduction of the Adedayo children, during which armed men reportedly invaded the family’s residence in Kuje and broke doors and windows. One of the children, identified as Damola, died in the incident.

Police authorities reportedly said weeks of digital surveillance helped investigators track the suspects to their hideouts. Two alleged key members were arrested at Rijana Kaduna Estate, while five others were apprehended in the Sabo area of Abuja.

Investigators also reportedly visited the gang’s camp in Tukuba Forest, Kuje, where they discovered a decomposing body.

Items recovered during the operation allegedly included four AK-47 rifles, a pistol, 63 rounds of ammunition, a mobile phone reportedly used for ransom negotiations, ₦400,000 in cash and a motorcycle.

The arrests are part of the ongoing investigation into the kidnapping case. The suspects remain accused persons, and the allegations have yet to be determined by a court of law.

Meanwhile, the affected family has expressed appreciation to the police for their efforts and called for justice over the incident.
