Sunday Igboho Unveils Iru Ekun Security Network, Says It Has Tinubu’s Approval
Prominent Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho or “Igboho Oosha,” has announced the launch of the Iru Ekun Security Network, describing it as a registered and officially approved security outfit established to strengthen safety across Yoruba communities.
Speaking during the announcement, Igboho said the security initiative has received approval and is legally recognized, stressing that its mission is to combat criminal activities and restore peace in forests and communities across the South-West region.
He called on Yorubas both at home and in the diaspora to support the initiative and join efforts aimed at tackling insecurity, especially the growing concerns over attacks and criminal activities in forested areas.
According to him, the time has come for collective action to defend communities and ensure residents can live without fear.
“Iru Ekun Security Network is registered and operational. We are calling on all Yorubas to join hands in flushing criminals out of our forests and protecting our land,” he stated.
Igboho also linked the increasing security challenges in some parts of the region to political developments, alleging that certain groups are reacting to the fact that a Yoruba man currently occupies Nigeria’s highest political office.
“They are doing this because a Yoruba man is now the president,” he said.
The activist maintained that the security outfit was created with the objective of safeguarding lives and property while complementing broader efforts to tackle insecurity.
His statement is already generating reactions across political and social circles, with many expected to seek further clarification on the structure, operational scope, and official status of the newly announced security network.
The development comes amid ongoing conversations about regional security initiatives and increasing calls for community-based approaches to addressing insecurity across Nigeria.
