Stepfather Arrested In Rivers For Allegedly Raping 12-Year-Old Stepdaughter Three Times, Threatening To Kill Her And Her Mother

Aman has been arrested in Rumuekini community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, over the alleged repeated rape of his 12-year-old stepdaughter.

It was learnt that the alleged sexual abuse occurred whenever the victim’s mother left the house, with the suspect allegedly taking advantage of her absence to touch the girl inappropriately before sexually assaulting her.
The 12-year-old girl reportedly said she kept silent about the incident because the suspect threatened to kill her and her mother if she told anyone what had happened.
According to a video making the rounds on social media, the suspect was subsequently arrested following the allegations.
In the video showing where community members arrested the suspect, the suspect violently resisted arrest.

At the police station, one of the community members said, “He has finally been arrested after a long battle with officers. You battle with officers. You are finally here. It was a long battle.”
Another community member, who spoke in Pidgin English, said the suspect had finally been arrested after a prolonged effort involving family members and community residents.
“The man who defiled his stepdaughter, we have finally arrested him. It was not a small battle today. Family people and community people since 8:00 in the morning…” he said.
Meanwhile, SaharaReporters’ efforts to obtain comments from the Rivers State Police Command on the incident were unsuccessful, as calls placed to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, went unanswered.
SaharaReporters also sent her a WhatsApp message seeking her reaction, but she had yet to respond as of the time of filing this report.
The incident raises fresh concerns about sexual violence against children, particularly cases involving alleged perpetrators who are entrusted with their care, protection and safety.
