SOLDIER SHO0TS D£AD ONE ATTACKER, TWO FLEE AFTER FOILED D!SARMAMENT ATTEMPT IN RIVERS

A suspected armed assailant has been shot dead after attempting to attack a soldier on duty at the FIPL Power Station in Alode community, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to preliminary reports from security sources, three men armed with cutlasses approached the soldier while he was on sentry duty at the facility. The suspects reportedly attempted to overpower the soldier and seize his service rifle in what authorities believe was a planned disarmament operation.

The soldier responded immediately, opening fire and killing one of the attackers on the spot. The remaining two suspects fled the area and are currently at large, sparking a manhunt by security operatives in surrounding communities.

Local residents reported hearing gunshots during the confrontation, which caused panic in the vicinity before calm was later restored. Security has since been reinforced around the power installation to prevent further threats and ensure the safety of critical infrastructure in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Army has not issued an official statement confirming details of the incident, while investigations are ongoing to determine the identity and motive of the attackers.
