Shock as bandits kill abducted victim, send his severed head to Emirate Head

Suspected bandits in Katsina State have reportedly killed one of more than 100 people abducted in the state and sent his severed head to the Shadadi Emirate.

The incident was disclosed on Friday by a Katsina-based security analyst, Bakatsine, who said the victim was among residents being held by the terrorists.

NewsRegion reports that the victim was killed by his abductors before his severed head was allegedly delivered to the Shadadi Emirate.

Bakatsine stated in a post on 𝕏, “The severed head of one of the more than 100 people abducted by bandits was reportedly sent to the Shadadi Emirate today.

“The victim was reportedly killed by the abductors. The development is heartbreaking and will undoubtedly deepen fears for the many others who remain in captivity.”

Bakatsine called for urgent action to secure the release of those still being held.

“How many more innocent people have to die before this cycle of abductions and killings is brought to an end?” the source asked.

The identity of the reported victim was not immediately disclosed.

The circumstances surrounding his alleged abduction and killing could also not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the elder brother of the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, has reportedly been killed by suspected bandits.

NewsRegion gathered that the victim was the Village Head of Galla in Borgu Emirate, Niger State.

The assailants were said to have stormed his palace on Monday, August 24, 2026, in an incident that has reportedly unsettled residents of the community.

According to Daily Post, sources familiar with the development said the monarch had earlier warned the bandits to stay away from the community.

His warning was allegedly viewed as an affront by the criminals, who later returned and attacked him at his palace.

The killing has further raised concerns about the security situation in the Borgu Emirate, where bandit attacks and other criminal activities have reportedly increased in recent times.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, acknowledged receiving inquiries about the incident.

He said he would provide details after obtaining the necessary information.
