Senator Unveils #200 Million Plan for constituents – Thousands Set to Benefit
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has announced a ₦200 million poverty alleviation initiative to support 10,000 underprivileged residents across the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kano State.
According to a statement by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, the scheme will begin on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with the distribution of application forms to prospective beneficiaries.
The initiative, managed under the Barau I. Jibrin Foundation (BIJF), will provide ₦20,000 each to selected individuals as part of efforts to cushion economic hardship and empower local communities.
Under the plan, 6,500 beneficiaries will be drawn from Kano North Senatorial District, with 500 persons from each of its 13 LGAs. In contrast, 112 beneficiaries will be selected from each LGA in Kano Central and Kano South Senatorial Districts.
Mudashir emphasized that the project is one of many interventions by Senator Barau to uplift lives through education, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, and youth empowerment.
He added that the foundation has previously sponsored foreign postgraduate scholarships for indigent students and remains committed to creating lasting social impact.
“Empowering women and youth remains a central focus of His Excellency’s initiatives, designed to drive development in the North and Nigeria at large,” Mudashir said.
