Senator Abbo Quits ADC In Shock Political Move

Former federal lawmaker and ex-Adamawa North Senator, Ishaku Abbo, has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with plans to unveil his next political destination later this week amid growing internal tensions within the party.

His exit comes just 48 hours after supporters of Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, also withdrew en masse from the party, further deepening the ongoing political turbulence within the state chapter.

The development follows reports of widening cracks in the ADC in Adamawa State, where a bloc aligned with Binani recently announced its collective resignation after a stakeholders’ meeting held at the residence of Hon. Mijiyewa Umaru Kugama. The group, drawn from all three senatorial districts of the state, accused the party leadership of violating democratic norms and weakening internal structures.

The stakeholders alleged that recent congresses conducted by the party were fundamentally flawed, claiming they undermined internal democracy, disregarded due process, and rendered the party’s structure in the state ineffective and unacceptable.

Abbo’s resignation is expected to further reshape political alignments within the ADC in Adamawa, as speculation continues over his next political move.
