Security Arrests Suspected Serial Killer Accused of Killing, Eating 38 People Over 15 Years
A suspected serial killer branded the “worst in Uganda’s history” has been arrested for allegedly butchering and cannibalising 38 people over 15 years.

Mujurizi Moses was detained after terrorising communities across Masaka, Ibanda, and Kazo between 2010 and 2025. Investigators say the attacker operated with brutal methods, frequently breaking through the walls of homes before hacking entire families to death with machetes. 😢💔
Confirming the breakthrough capture on Monday, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba declared that justice would be swift and uncompromising.
He said: “I am glad to inform our fellow citizens that the security forces have arrested the evil Mujurizi Moses. The worst serial killer and cannibal in Uganda’s history. He killed and ate 38 people between 2010-2025 in Masaka, Ibanda and Kazo. We will try him in public and definitely execute him.”
Detectives had spent years tracking the suspect under various aliases, including Fred Mujulizi and contract killer Kulaish Kamugisha. Authorities linked him to a string of notorious cold cases, including the horrific 2012 massacre of Pentecostal pastor Steven Mugambe and his family in Kyotera District after attackers drilled through the wall of their home. 💔
Police also connected him to the slaughter of six members across two families in Kyannamukaaka, as well as ritual sacrifices and recent murder and human trafficking charges linked to the death of a woman in late September.
Despite multiple previous arrests where the suspect managed to escape or secure release under disputed circumstances, security forces have stated that the extensive dossier of cross-district murders is now being put forward for full prosecution.
