The Rivers Political Movement Forum has strongly advised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, against endorsing Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the 2027 governorship election, warning him not to repeat the political error of 2023.
In a communique issued after a stakeholders’ meeting, the forum cautioned that any endorsement of Fubara at this time could lead to another round of political crisis and instability in Rivers State.
The forum’s Chairman, Kingdom Benjamin, who issued the statement, emphasized that the group’s position reflects the collective view of critical stakeholders in the state.
“Rivers State cannot afford to go through the same experience of 2023. We urge the FCT Minister to carefully consider the long-term implications before throwing his weight behind any candidate, particularly Governor Fubara,” Benjamin said.
The communique, signed by prominent stakeholders of the Rivers Political Movement Forum, highlighted concerns over governance, political loyalty, and the need for genuine progress in the state.
The group maintained that Wike, being a major political figure with significant influence, should avoid moves that could polarize the state further or undermine the interest of Rivers people ahead of the next election cycle.
