Progressive Staff Warns PASAN Faction Against Blockage of National Assembly Vows to Resist Planned Picketing
*In a strongly worded statemen by Comrade Isah Mohammed, the Coordinator of the Progressive Staff Forum in the National Assembly has cautioned the “disgruntled concerned staff” faction of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) against what it described as acts of disrespect, defamation, threats, and maligning directed at the Clerk of the National Assembly, Barr. Kamoru Ogunlana and warns that they “cannot stand idly and watch” the Clerk’s person and office being denigrated.*
The Progressive Staff advised the aggrieved faction to channel their grievances through official channels, urging them to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Nigeria Police Force to investigate and prosecute those they believe are responsible for shortchanging payments.
*”You cannot disrupt the legislative duties in the National Assembly due to internal issues within PASAN,” the statement read, adding a firm caution: “Therefore, we warn you that any attempt to block the National Assembly will be resisted.”*
*The group highlighted that Barr. Ogunlana has already taken proactive steps to address the concerns by establishing a dedicated committee to probe the matter, underscoring his commitment to resolving the impasse without undermining parliamentary operations.*
*The Progressive Staff further revealed that the “so-called concerned staff” are being sponsored by external elements with ulterior motives. The Progressive Staff said they uncovered credible intelligence which indicates a plot to remove the National Assembly leadership under Senator Akpabio by infiltrating the complex with hoodlums and touts under the guise of picketing.*
*”We call on the security agencies DSS, police to be on alert,” the statement urged. “Arrest and hold responsible the so-called concerned staff if there is a breakdown of law and order within the National Assembly.”*
