Prince Daniel Omolola Urges Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa to Rescue Dilapidated Akoko Road Corridor
Prince Daniel Omolola (PDO), the Action People’s Movement (APM) candidate for the House of Representatives representing Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, to urgently intervene in the rehabilitation of the Ogbagi–Oke-Oro, Ogbagi–Irun, and Ogbagi–Ese/Afin road corridor in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
In an open letter released to our heritage Reporter online dated August 5, 2026, Omolola described the roads as critical transportation links that connect several agrarian communities and serve as an important boundary route between Ondo and Ekiti states. He lamented that years of neglect have left the roads in a deplorable condition, resulting in accidents, economic losses, rising transportation costs, and security concerns.
The APM candidate urged both the Federal and Ondo State governments to undertake immediate palliative works, commence comprehensive reconstruction, and establish a joint monitoring committee to ensure transparency and timely completion of the project, stressing that restoring the road network would boost agriculture, commerce, interstate connectivity, and the overall socio-economic development of the region.

SUBJECT: AN URGENT APPEAL FOR IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION ON THE OGBAGI–OKE-ORO, OGBAGI–IRUN AND OGBAGI–ESE/AFIN ROAD CORRIDOR IN AKOKO NORTH WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, ONDO STATE
From:
PRINCE DANIEL OMOLOLA (PDO)
APM Candidate, House of Representatives
Akoko North East & Akoko North West Federal Constituency
Date: 5th August 2026
Your Excellencies,
I write with profound respect on behalf of the good people of Akoko North East and Akoko North West Federal Constituency to draw your attention to the deplorable condition of the Ogbagi–Oke-Oro, Ogbagi–Irun and Ogbagi–Ese/Afin Road Corridor and to passionately appeal for your urgent intervention.
These roads are of immense strategic importance to the socio-economic development of our constituency. They connect several rural and agrarian communities, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and serve as a vital boundary route linking Ondo State with Ekiti State through the Akoko North West axis. Every day, farmers, traders, students, healthcare workers, civil servants, and other commuters depend on these roads for their livelihoods and access to essential services.
Sadly, the roads have deteriorated to the point of total collapse. Deep gullies, failed sections, severe erosion, and persistent flooding have rendered all parts almost impassable. Journeys that should take only a few minutes now consume several hours, exposing commuters to unnecessary hardship and danger.
The consequences have been devastating. Numerous lives have been lost in avoidable road accidents, vehicles have suffered extensive damage, transportation costs have skyrocketed, agricultural produce can no longer be transported efficiently to markets, businesses are declining and insecurity has increased as commuters are often stranded for long periods.
The Need for Immediate Intervention
1. Federal Responsibility
Although parts of this road corridor serve as strategic inter-state routes,we respectfully appeal to the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and through the Honourable Minister of Works, H.E. Sen. Engr. David Umahi, to give special attention to this critical road network because of its economic and regional significance.
The Renewed Hope Agenda places infrastructure development at the heart of national growth. The rehabilitation of these roads will significantly improve interstate connectivity, promote commerce, enhance security, and improve the quality of life for thousands of Nigerians.
2. State Government Partnership
Your Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, we commend your administration for its commitment to infrastructure development across Ondo State, particularly your intervention on the Akungba–Ikare Road.
We humbly appeal that the same commitment be extended to the Ogbagi–Oke-Oro, Ogbagi–Irun and Ogbagi–Ese/Afin Road Corridor through immediate palliative works and comprehensive rehabilitation. Your intervention will bring immense relief to our people and restore hope to communities that have endured years of neglect.
3. Socio-Economic Importance
The roads in question Ogbagi–Oke-Oro, Ogbagi–Irun, and Ogbagi–Ese/Afin, are critical transportation corridors serving numerous communities within Akoko North West Local Government Area. Beyond their local significance, they constitute an important boundary route connecting Ondo State to Ekiti State through the Akoko North West axis.
For decades, these roads have served as vital arteries for farmers, traders, students, healthcare workers, artisans, and transport operators. Unfortunately, years of neglect have crippled economic activities, hindered the evacuation of farm produce, increased transportation costs, discouraged investment, and exposed commuters to avoidable accidents and security risks.
Their rehabilitation will restore safe transportation, stimulate agricultural productivity, strengthen interstate trade, improve access to education and healthcare and promote economic growth throughout Akoko North West and neighbouring communities.
Our Humble Requests
In view of the foregoing,we respectfully request that:
1. The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Works, provide the necessary support and intervention required to restore this strategic road corridor.
2. The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, commence immediate palliative repairs and make adequate budgetary provision for the complete rehabilitation of these roads.
3. A Joint Federal–State–Community Monitoring Committee be established to ensure transparency, accountability, quality execution, and timely completion of the project.
Conclusion
Your Excellencies, the people of Akoko North East and Akoko North West remain peaceful, law-abiding, and supportive of government. Our appeal is driven solely by the urgent need to protect lives, revive economic activities, and provide our people with the basic infrastructure they deserve.
We are confident that your timely intervention will restore these critical roads, stimulate economic growth, strengthen regional integration and reaffirm the commitment of both the Federal and Ondo State Governments to inclusive and people centred development.
We remain available for constructive engagement and collaboration toward the successful execution of this important intervention.
Please accept, Your Excellencies, the assurances of my highest esteem and respect.
Yours faithfully,
PRINCE DANIEL OMOLOLA (PDO)
APM Candidate, House of Representatives
Akoko North East & Akoko North West Federal Constituency
