President Tinubu Approves Creation of South-East Investment Company to Drive Regional Development

In a landmark move aimed at accelerating economic development and infrastructure growth in Nigeria’s South-East region, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of the South-East Investment Company (SEIC).

The approval, which was announced on Thursday, signals a new chapter in the federal government’s commitment to inclusive regional development and economic integration across the nation. The newly approved SEIC is expected to serve as a strategic vehicle to attract investments, drive industrialization, and harness the economic potential of the five South-Eastern states: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo.

According to sources within the Presidency, the South-East Investment Company will operate as a public-private partnership platform, mobilizing both federal and state governments, local entrepreneurs, diaspora investors, and international development partners to fund critical sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing, energy, transportation, and digital economy.
