Police Seal Fake Wine Factory In Lagos, Arrest Suspect
The police said adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, wine labels and various production utensils were recovered from the premises.
A 48-year-old man, Anaebo Emeka Hilary, has been arrested after Lagos State Police operatives discovered and sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly used to produce adulterated alcoholic drinks in Yafin, Badagry, Lagos State.
According to a statement issued by the Lagos State Police Command on Thursday, the operatives acted on credible information provided by members of the public before raiding the suspected facility.
The police said adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, wine labels and various production utensils were recovered from the premises.
The command said the recovered items were taken to the police station for further investigation, while the suspected factory was sealed.
Hilary, who was arrested at the location, remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for responding promptly to the information and maintaining vigilance during the operation.
He said the command would continue to carry out intelligence-led operations aimed at tackling criminal activities across the state.
The police commissioner also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to assist investigations and prevent criminal activities.
The arrest and discovery form part of the Lagos State Police Command’s efforts to disrupt suspected criminal activities through intelligence-led operations.
The police said further investigation would determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged production and packaging of the alcoholic drinks.
