Police invite Comedian Dee One over video criticising Tinubu

Popular comedian Aderombi Adedayo, widely known as Dee One, has been invited by the Lagos State Police Command for questioning over a viral video in which he criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The invitation, by the Anti Fraud Section of the command, reportedly cites allegations of cyber bullying and the spread of misinformation in relation to the video, which has attracted millions of views across social media platforms since it was posted last week.

In the clip, Dee One expressed frustration over Nigeria’s economic challenges, including rising living costs, fuel prices and governance issues.

He compared the current administration unfavourably with previous governments and called for greater accountability.

Reacting to the police invitation, the comedian shared a copy of the letter on X and wrote: “Nigerian police, I did not say anything bad about the President or his son. I only aired my view as a good citizen of Nigeria.”

His post has since sparked widespread debate online, with supporters defending his comments as an exercise of free speech, while critics argue that some of his claims could amount to defamation.
