Police Confirm F∆tal Cr∆sh Involving Military Vehicle, Commercial Bus

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed a tragic road accident involving a military gun truck and a commercial Hummer bus, which claimed the lives of six people along the Narehi axis of Girei–Song Local Government Areas on Tuesday, June 3, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the crash occurred at about 1:50 p.m. when the military vehicle, travelling from Gombi to Yola, collided head-on with the passenger bus heading from Yola to Mubi.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the impact caused the commercial bus to overturn and burst into flames, trapping its occupants.

The police said all five passengers aboard the bus were burnt to death. Initial identification showed that four of the victims were members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Adamawa State. Two of the deceased were identified as Suleuman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both natives of Kaduna State, while efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining victims.

The Command also confirmed that a military personnel attached to the gun truck lost his life in the collision.

Police officers and emergency responders were immediately deployed to the scene, where the bodies of the victims were evacuated to the Specialist Hospital in Yola. Authorities said efforts are underway to identify the remaining deceased and contact their families.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, , expressed condolences to the bereaved families, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the NYSC, and all those affected by the tragedy.
