Police Arrest Suspected Interstate Kidnappers, Armed Robbers In Enugu, Recover Ammunition
The police claimed that the suspects were operating along border communities between Enugu and Benue states.
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an interstate kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate.

Identified as Mohammed Hassan, 28, and Aminu Usman, 26, both from Otukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, the suspects were arrested by operatives attached to the Udenu Police Division in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.
In a statement the Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, SP Daniel Ndukwe, released on Monday, revealed that the suspects were arrested on May 14, 2026, at about 1:20pm at Amutenyi, Obollo-Afor, in Udenu Local Government Area of the State.
The statement partly read: “The suspects, identified as Mohammed Hassan (male, aged 28) and Aminu Usman (male, aged 26), both of Otukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, were arrested on 14th May 2026, at about 1:20 p.m., at Amutenyi, Obollo-Afor, Udenu LGA of Enugu State.
“Recovered from the suspects were one Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of .9mm live ammunition, three suspected snatched motorcycles, one mobile phone, suspected charms, one ATM card, phone, a bunch of keys, and cash sum of Four Thousand Seven Hundred Naira (₦4,700.00).”
The command said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects belonged to an interstate criminal syndicate allegedly involved in kidnapping and motorcycle snatching operations across communities bordering Enugu and Benue states.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects are members of an interstate kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate allegedly involved in kidnapping and motorcycle snatching operations along border communities between Enugu and Benue States,” the statement read.
The police added that efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang, while the suspects would be arraigned upon conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, said the command would not relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
“We won’t rest on our oars,” the police commissioner said while reaffirming the command’s commitment to combating violent crimes across the state.
Giwa commended the operatives and members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group for the successful operation and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies.
