The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of belonging to the Eiye Confraternity and recovered two locally made pistols, three live cartridges and a battle axe in intelligence-led operations in the state.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the arrest followed credible intelligence received by operatives of SWAT Base 7, Abule Iroko, Sango-Ota.
The police said a search conducted at the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of one locally made pistol and three live cartridges.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect allegedly admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity,” the statement said.
The command disclosed that further operational activities led to the recovery of another locally made pistol and a battle axe at a separate location on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
The recovery followed information obtained from the arrested suspect, which operatives acted upon during a follow-up operation conducted at about 6:30 a.m.
The police said the recovered items had been secured as exhibits, adding that the operation demonstrated the command’s determination to pursue actionable intelligence beyond arrests and prevent potentially dangerous weapons from remaining in circulation.

Investigations are also continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether other individuals were involved.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and effective use of intelligence in carrying out the operation.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, disrupting cult-related activities and curbing the illegal possession of firearms across Ogun State.
He also urged residents to provide timely and credible information about suspected criminal activities, assuring them that the command would continue to act decisively on actionable intelligence to protect lives and property.
The police said the operation formed part of the command’s sustained offensive against cultism, violent crime and the illegal possession of firearms in the state.
