Peter Obi Reacts to IMF Report, Questions Nigeria’s Absence Among Africa’s Fastest-Growing Economies

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has reacted to the recent IMF report listing Africa’s fastest-growing economies — with Nigeria noticeably missing from the list.

Obi said the countries highlighted by the IMF are not richer than Nigeria in natural resources but have shown “greater discipline, leadership, and commitment” to investing in education, healthcare, and poverty reduction.

He blamed Nigeria’s struggles on poor policy choices, corruption, and waste, urging a shift toward production over consumption and governance over politics.

In his words: “Nigeria has all it takes to lead Africa’s economic growth, but we need competent and compassionate leadership that values transparency, productivity, and shared prosperity.”

He ended with his signature message — “A New Nigeria is POssible.”

What’s your take? Can leadership alone fix Nigeria’s economic woes?
