Pastor Peter Akpe Reveals Who Helped Him Become Bayelsa State’s Deputy Governor
The new deputy governor of Bayelsa state, Peter Akpe has revealed his emergence as the deputy governor of the state is through providence.
He highlighted that he did not lobby any politician for him to be appointed the deputy governor of Bayelsa state, attributing to his emergence to God’s plan for him.
While speaking at his official reception at the Bayelsa state government house in Yenagoa, pastor Peter Akpe emphasized that his emergence as the state’s deputy governor is an opportunity for him to serve and support the state’s leadership rather than seeking personal fame.
“But let me make it clear that I have not gone to lobby for any position, including this one. Most of the influential Bayelsa (big) men are here. If I had ever told you to lobby for me, please say it here. In my life, it has always been God touching people to do things for me. So I’ve always said Lord, just do your own”, he stated.

“This responsibility wasn’t something I achieved by myself. I owe this state more commitment, more attention and more service. This office isn’t just mine; it belongs to the people who believe in a better Bayelsa. But let me be clear that I haven’t gone to ask for any position, including this one”.
“Most of the important men from Bayelsa are here. If I had ever asked you to campaign for me, please mention it here. In my life, God has always been the one who touches people’s hearts to help me out. So I’ve always said, Lord, just do your own thing”.
“Yes, some people came to me asking, what are you doing about this? And I said let the will of God be done. You shouldn’t get involved in anything that God hasn’t allowed or ready you for. So, I want to give all the praise and honor to the Almighty God.
“I also want to thank His Excellency, the governor for this great honor. It’s an honor for the governor to let you work with him and also to see you as capable enough for bigger responsibilities. I also truly appreciate the House of Assembly and my constituency.”
