Outcry In Edo State As Senator Joseph Ikpea’s Community Remains In Darkness For 13 Years

SaharaReporters learnt that the community is home to Senator Joseph Ikpea, who represents Edo Central Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, and hails directly from Ewatto-Uhomebho, a fact residents say heightens their expectation of urgent intervention.

The people of Ewatto-Uhomebho community in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State are living through what they describe as an “endless night,” following over 13 years without electricity, a situation that has drained livelihoods, deepened hardship, and raised questions about accountability from power authorities and political representation.

SaharaReporters learnt that the community is home to Senator Joseph Ikpea, who represents Edo Central Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, and hails directly from Ewatto-Uhomebho, a fact residents say heightens their expectation of urgent intervention.

In Ewatto, there are reportedly 17 (Clans) or communities that make up Ewatto kingdom.

“The problem there is that since 2013 the community ( Ewatto-Uhomebho community in Esan Southeast LGA of Edo State) has no light.”
