The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, identifying the suspects as Isreal Abakah, 35, and Emmanuel Gbene, 37.

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered a locally made revolver and other exhibits in Akure, the state capital.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit of the command following intelligence-led operations.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, identifying the suspects as Isreal Abakah, 35, and Emmanuel Gbene, 37.
Jimoh said the suspects were arrested at different locations within Akure metropolis after operatives acted on credible intelligence.
He said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly belonged to an armed robbery syndicate suspected of terrorising residents of Akure and neighbouring communities.
“In the course of the operation, operatives conducted a raid on the gang’s hideout in the Olufoam area of Akure, where a locally made revolver capable of holding four rounds of ammunition was recovered.
“Other exhibits recovered during the operation include suspected criminal charms, a laptop, motorcycle mirrors, and a number plate. The suspects have confessed to their involvement in several armed robbery operations within Akure metropolis and its environs.
“Their alleged confessions and the recovered exhibits are currently being subjected to further investigation to establish the full extent of their criminal activities and diligent prosecution,” he said.
The police spokesperson said the command had intensified efforts to arrest other members of the syndicate who remained at large.
He added that the investigation would also seek to identify individuals and communities allegedly affected by the group, recover additional exhibits and determine whether the suspects were connected to other reported robbery cases.
The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and response to credible intelligence.
He reiterated the command’s determination to dismantle criminal networks and ensure that suspects involved in violent crimes are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Ohagwu also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station or through established police communication channels.
He said timely and credible information from members of the public remained essential to the prevention and detection of crime.
The command assured residents that it would sustain intelligence-led operations and other proactive security measures to protect lives and property across the state.
