Ondo Monarch, Osemawe assures New AFUED VC of support

The Osemawe of Ondo kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, CFR, Jilo III, has assured the Vice-Chancellor, Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola of his support, and that of people of the community.

Oba Kiladejo made the statement, when he received Principal Officers of the University led by Prof. Popoola, who came on a courtesy visit to his palace at Enuowa, Ondo on Monday 25 August, 2025.

Congratulating Prof. Popoola for his emergence as the first substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University, the first class traditional ruler described the development as an act of God.

The monarch also described the elevation of Adeyemi College of Education to University of Education as the actualisation of the dream and aspirations of the people of Ondo kingdom, noting that because of the importance the people of the ancient community placed on the school, her indigenes always pray and wish that God brings a person that would lay good foundation for the institution.

Oba Kiladejo, however, advised Management of the University to continue to sustain good qualities for which the institution has gained globally recognition by not sacrificing “excellence for anything”.

In his words: “We want the best for the University and pray for a person that will lay a good foundation, once the foundation is strong, everything will be okay”
“Don’t sacrifice excellence for anything, Ondo as a whole, we are solidly behind you “the monarch remarked.

In addition, the first class monarch, urged Management of the institution to extend hands of fellowship to the State and Federal Government in its developmental drives, stating that the move would be of great advantage to the institution.

Earlier in his remarks, the AFUED Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, expressed appreciation to Oba Kiladejo and the people of the Ondo kingdom for the support given to the institution.

The University Administrator, used the occasion to seek for more support and assistance to the University, promising that his administration would continue to work for progress and advancement of the institution.

The courtesy visit held inside the palace of the Osemawe, was attended by two senior Ondo High Chiefs. They are High Chief Sasere, Johnson Olu Adeduro, and High Chief Adaja, Solafuboye Ayodeji.

Also in attendance were Principal Officers of the University: Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Fakorede; Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin and Acting University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs) Fausat Adeola Afolabi.
Also present were, Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, AFUED, Mr. Oladotun Funmilayo; Director, Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DI&PR) AFUED, Mrs. Oluseto Olatuyi, staff from DI&PR, AFUED and Acting Head of Security unit, AFUED, Mr. Ebenezer Fadowo.
