Ondo ‎APC Disowns Ex-Aiyedatiwa’s Top Aide, takes fresh action

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a former Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Rasaq Obe, over the possibility of the party losing the state in next year’s election.

Also, the party constituted a reconciliation committee to address grievances arising from the party’s recent primary election and restore unity among its members.

‎The state APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, disclosed this on Friday while briefing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Akure, the state capital.

‎Babatunde said the committee would be chaired by the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, and mandated to engage aggrieved aspirants and other party stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues and strengthen unity within the party.

‎Babatunde explained that the initiative was aimed at preventing further division within the party and strengthening internal cohesion.

‎According to him, “The committee has been set up to engage with all the aggrieved aspirants and stakeholders and find a way of resolving the issues that arose from the primary election.

‎“Our objective is to ensure that the party remains united and that all grievances are addressed amicably. We do not want the primary election to create divisions that could affect the party going forward.

‎“We believe that through dialogue and genuine reconciliation, we can bring everybody together and move the party forward. All stakeholders are important to us, and we will continue to engage with them.”

‎Reacting to the statement made by Obe during a television interview in which he disparaged the party for substituting candidates, the Chairman said his views were personal and do not represent the official position of the Ondo State APC.

‎Babatunde expressed confidence that the reconciliation committee would work with all stakeholders to foster unity and position the party for future political engagements.

‎He added, “We are confident that the committee will do a good job. We will work with all stakeholders to ensure that the party remains strong, united and ready for future political engagements.”
