Ogun Police Command Arrests Man For Allegedly Beating University Graduate To Death

A 43-year-old man, Edebiri Temitope, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command in connection with the death of his 38-year-old neighbour, Oje Michael Eje, in Mowe, Ogun State.

Eje, a university graduate who held a degree in Guidance and Counselling, was reportedly beaten after he allegedly hugged and played with the three-year-old child of his neighbour.

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred in Mowe, where Temitope was said to have become angry over what he described as Eje’s “rough play” with his child.

The suspect allegedly picked up a bamboo stick and repeatedly struck Eje, causing him to collapse.

Eje was subsequently reported to have died from the injuries sustained during the assault.

The suspect was initially reported to have fled the area with his family and was said to be at large.

However, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed in a statement on Friday that Temitope had been arrested.

Babaseyi identified the suspect as “Edebiri Temitope, ‘M’, aged 43 years,” and said he was arrested in connection with the death of “Oje Michael Eje, ‘M’.”

The police spokesperson said the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and death are now being investigated by the police.
